Turkey Season - Tuesday, November 20

Do you know what season it is? No… not duck. Nope... not rabbit season either. IT’S TURKEY SEASON!

It’s in the air. We can almost see our breath in the cold. We are also getting closer to our annual Turkey Trot. Oh yeah… the tired legs, the hearts beating, the lungs taking in lots of oxygen. In PE the kids are already in training! Here we go...

This is a great community service event that we hold each year – this year we are helping The Storehouse. Our students always do such a great job collecting non-perishable food items. Our goal is to fill 5 barrels to donate this year.

As always, we are aiming for 100% participation from our students. We are aware that there are some students who would rather not run the race, so we offer an alternative – they can walk with their friends. We even have our teachers participating in the race. This event is set up to teach our students about citizenship, and the importance of helping out in our neighborhood. All they need to do is bring in a non-perishable food item – canned, boxed or packaged.

Parents, families and friends are invited to cheer on their trotters. We prepare them during PE for the course and running distances. We ask that on the day of the Turkey Trot, that they eat a light and healthy breakfast. Every participant should dress in layers, and also bring some bottled water.

We hope to have all of our students participate in the Turkey Trot this year. It is a great experience to be involved in such a charitable event. All non-perishable food items can be put in the barrels throughout the school.

This year the race will be held on Tuesday, November 20
